Ralph Bakshi Styled Isengard Orc Conversion

My take on the Ralph Bakshi Styled Isengard Orcs. It will be a while before I can paint him (due to the eye injury still playing up). This one is made from a body from a Victrix set, but there isn't enough in each pack to build a full unit. I'll need to source some more convenient-to-get robed bodies to complete a whole host, I'll probably go for the Gripping beast Arabs to get some bulk bodies for more of these.

Review: Warlord Games Orcs

There are now a ton of options for Orcs and Goblin kits, we are spoilt for choice. I've brought way too many but the advantage of this is that I can mix and match kits as much as I like. Which is where the warlord games orc kit shines the most. It comes with a ton of great parts for kit-bashing with other plastic kits. The kit has the Angus McBride style of orcs, which is is excellent for setting apart your orcs from the movie stylised versions. The kit does have some issues. The three torso parts were designed to be 'double sided' which gives them an odd look where one side slopes out in an odd way and they don't always line up with the legs in 'realistic' way. The other main issue is the arms are shaped like Lego people arms. This is ok when it comes to using the weapons on the sprue or using them with shields, but they are very awkward if you try to use them on other kits, or want to do hand/weapon swaps etc with parts from other kits. Mae govannen, mellyn nín! Many years ago I got swept up in wargaming universe that wasn't Middle Earth. Whilst I did dabble in a few Lord of the Rings inspired conversions from that range, it wasn't until the films release many years later that the idea of wargaming in Middle Earth crossed my mind again. With models being released via a magazine partworks, I went to pick up a copy of the first issue. Where on arrival to the store, I was told that this new range of minis was a smaller scale and we'd not be allowed to use models from across the ranges to play either game. Which promoted me to not buy anything from the new range at all. It already took long enough to paint an army of miniatures, why on earth would I spend time working on a project that was almost identical to what I already owned and collected, but not able to combine with what I was already working on.
